The 'Drunk' singer says he is too busy touring this year to finish work on his next record.
Ed Sheeran has suggested his new album won't see a release this year after all and claims it now won't be out until 2014 "at the earliest".
The 'Lego House' singer has been working on songs for the follow-up to his 2011 debut '+' for the past several months, but admits the record won't see a release for some time yet.
Ed says his hectic US touring schedule over the next twelve months, which includes a stint supporting Taylor Swift on her North American tour, means he won't have time to finish his second album this year.
"I'm on tour until September and this tour is so long I'll need a break afterwards," Ed revealed to the Daily Star this week. "I've written 26 songs for the new album but it won't be released until early 2014, at the earliest."

Over the past few weeks Ed has been giving fans a behind the scenes look at his recent 2012 tour, which saw him place a huge number of shows last year.
It has also been rumoured that Ed is collaborating with Justin Bieber on his upcoming acoustic 'Believe' album, due out at the end of January.
Ed Sheeran's first tour date of 2013 is at the Bayou Music Center in Houston, Texas on 17th January.
