The R&B star says the two are both so young and claims there will "always be love" between them.
Chris Brown has seemingly confirmed widespread rumours he and Rihanna have split up, saying she is "doing her own thing" and saying that "loving from a distance" will help them both grow.
The 'Turn Up The Music' star and 'We Found Love' singer Rihanna were widely rumoured to have ended things last week, after Chris notably unfollowed her on Twitter, and he has now gone on record to discuss the couple's break-up ahead of his 24th birthday this past weekend.
"I'm gonna do [my birthday] solo," Chris confirmed on Australian radio. "At the end of the day Shorty doing her own thing, she's on the road.
"It's always gonna be love. I'm a grown man, just gotta fast forward," he continued, before explaining: "The way I look at it is, I'm always going to love that person, but people have differences, and people have different wants and needs, at the end of the day she's a young girl.
"I can't really be focused on wife-ing somebody that young, and I'm young too," he added. "I just got to step forward and be the man and be the best Chris Brown I can be instead of worrying about whoever else is going to be in my side pocket."

The 'Fine China' singer has since taken to Twitter to elaborate on the couple's break-up, which comes after their reunited back in 2012 to much public controversy.
"Sometimes loving someone is too much!" Chris tweeted. "So loving from a distance will help everyone grow! Be blessed. Live ya life!"
It has been reported that, during one of his birthday party celebrations over the weekend, Chris' ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran was one of the guests in attendance.
Chris Brown is set to release his brand new album 'X' this summer.
