The couple reportedly welcome their first child together.
Beyonce has given birth to a baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter, at a hospital in New York.
Multiple sources told E! News that the child was delivered via C-section at Lenox Hill hospital overnight.
If confirmed, Blue Ivy is Beyonce and husband Jay-Z's - real Shawn Carter - first child together, and takes the surname of her father. Initial reports suggested the child had been called Ivy Blue, but E! reports that friends have confirmed that the name is in fact Blue Ivy.
Representatives for the couple have yet to confirm the birth, but close friend Rihanna appeared to confirm the arrival on Twitter.
She wrote: "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih."
Russell Simmons, a longtime associate of Jay-Z and co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, also took to Twitter to comment on the birth.
"Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z," he wrote.
The former Destiny's Child star was last spotted out in public earlier this week wearing a losing fitting outfit that disguised her bump.
Beyonce's pregnancy has been the subject of huge intrigue since she first announced that she was expecting her first child at the MTV Video Music Awards last August.
The couple married secretly in April 2008 after nearly six years together.
