The 'Set Fire To The Rain' singer picked up three awards at last night's ceremony in Los Angeles.
Adele and Nicki Minaj both walked away with multiple gongs at the American Music Awards last night (20th November).
The 'Someone Like You' singer, who was not present at the ceremony due to her recent throat surgery, took home Favourite Female in Rock/Pop, Favourite Album for her 2011 LP ‘21’ and Favourite Artist in Adult Contemporary.
Nicki Minaj received her first American Music Award in the Favourite Rap/Hip Hop Artist category over favourites Kanye West and Lil Wayne, and also bagged Favourite Rap/Hip Hop Album for her debut release ‘Pink Friday’.
Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ was named Favourite Album in Soul/Rhythm/Blues while Beyonce picked up ‘Favourite Female Artist in the same category over both the ‘We Found Love’ singer as well as her former Destiny’s Child band mate Kelly Rowland.
Bruno Mars received an award for Favourite Male in Pop/Rock over ‘Mistletoe’ singer Justin Bieber, and Maroon 5 won Favourite Band in Pop/Rock following the huge success of their single ‘Moves Like Jagger’.
Rounding off the night Usher took home Favourite Male Artist in Soul/Rhythm/Blues, Jennifer Lopez was named Favourite Artist in Latin Music and the Foo Fighters won Favourite Rock Artist.
Finally, singer Taylor Swift won several awards in the country music category as well as being declared the American Music Awards Artist of the Year 2011.
