The 'Set Fire To The Rain' singer allegedly plans to release a new record late next year.
Adele has reportedly been writing and recording the start of her third album for several months now, with claims she may be ready to release a new record as early as 2013.
The 'Rolling In The Deep' star achieved huge success with her second album '21', but reports over the course of this year had suggested she wouldn't put out a new record for several years.
"I really want to release a happy record now. I've never been happier," Adele is said to have told friends, reports The Mirror. "I have written stuff and I will release it when I'm ready.
"She has quite a few tunes and people are going to be surprised by the new sound, it's incredible," the Los Angeles based friend added. "Talk about her disappearing for years is nonsense.
Adele and boyfriend Simon Konecki are rumoured to have welcomed their first child, a son, at the end of last week, which is expected to delay work on Adele's next album.
"She will be caring for her son until Christmas but it is her intention to leave some mixes finished and prepped for an album as early as next autumn."
Adele is not expected to attend the world premiere of the new James Bond film Skyfall, which takes place in London tonight (23rd October).
