Adele has thanked her fans in America after its was announced her second album '21' has sold more than 10 million copies.
The album, which featured the singles 'Rolling In The Deep' and 'Someone Like You', achieved the landmark less than two years after it was released.
Adele, who has been out of the public spotlight since the birth of her first child, broke her silence to thank fans who have bought the album – and in doing some quoted a lyric from Rihanna's late
She wrote on Twitter: "Shine bright like a diamond!" US fans, we just hit 10 million copies over on your side of the pond! Thanks :) xx."
The 'Someone Like You' star has broken records throughout 2012 with the album, and the new milestone comes during its 92nd week on the Billboard 200.
The last album to sell similar figures in a shorter space of time was Justin Timberlake's former group N*Sync, with 'No Strings Attached' shifting the ten million mark in just 43 weeks back in 2001.
Adele's second record has now become just the eight to reach the figure within the two-year mark, with such stars as The Backstreet Boys, Santana and Alanis Morissette.
