The 'Never Close Our Eyes' star tells Capitalfm.com that he "owes" his "career" to the music reality show.
Adam Lambert has confessed that he would love to be a judge on American Idol.
The 'Whataya Want From Me' singer told Capitalfm.com that he was unaware of rumours linking him to a spot on the show but would "jump at the chance" if he was asked.
Speaking about the possibility of joining the series, he said: "I'm just hearing about this today as well and so what a beautiful rumour."
He added: "I mean if, and I say if with a capital I.F, if they were to approach me and if they were to say you know 'we want you to be a judge on the show' – I would love that!
"I would jump at the chance, I think it would be fun," he continued.
The star rose to fame during series eight of the show when he was announced as the runner-up and admitted he owes his career to the TV series.
"I've been a fan of the show since it's been on television. I owe my career to American Idol," he declared. "If you wasn't for American Idol I doubt I'd be sitting here with you. I don't think my life would have went the way it went."
Rumours have been circulating that current judge Jennifer Lopez will be stepping down from her post to concentrate on her touring commitments, and Adam confessed he would relish the chance to hope the contestants.

The singer conceded that he knows the make-up of the show is heavily reliant on the strategic side as well as the talent involved.
"It is a game, the show is a gameshow in some regards. It's about talent but it's also about strategy. It's also about thinking it through and picking the right songs and all that."
He finally added: "I would love to help."
